Cuski tried and tested

Introduction

The Cuski comforter is supposed to make life with a newborn that bit easier. The idea is that it absorbs the smell of a newborn's Mum (his favourite person!) and that it helps him feel secure and sleep well. We gave a Cuski to one Supernanny Mum to try out....

The Cuski is suitable from birth, easy to hold and great to cuddle. The idea is that it may even replace a mangy old blanket, as a children's favourite!

cuskiBabies have an outstanding sence of smell at birth, naturally heading for the breast. The closer they are to you, their Mum, the more comfort and warmth they receive. The aim of the Cuski is that it comforts your baby by having your smell on it. The Cuski should be tucked into your top, next to your skin whilst feeding. Then, when you settle the baby down, you can leave the Cuski in with him.

Family Review:

Elisabeth and her five week old son, Alvar

How easy was the product to open/set up/install? Easy, just to open the box. However, from an environmental point of view and in the spirit of reducing packaging is it really neccessary to sell it in such a large plastic box?

What do you think of the design of the product? The shape is really nice and 'floppy', just the sort of thing that kids like. I had a cream one, which I feel might be a bit too pale. Perhaps a little more contrast on it would be helpful in the early weeks - as little babies like to look at strong contrasts such as black and white.

How easy was it to use, day to day? Easy

Overall, what was good about the product? The shape was really lovely as babies can use it to suck on/tug on when they are little or need comfort and later on play with as it looks like a doll. I remember soft rag dolls always being my favourite as a kid. The material was really soft and squishy. I also liked the fact that it's washable in the machine, and that it's light so it travels well. I also like the simple, natural design of it.

Overall, what could be improved? The packaging could be made smaller and not so bulky. Perhaps more contrasts as Ii mentioned before so it would make it more useful for very young babies. Alvar didn't actually pay much attention to the toy as he is so young, ( I put it in the crook of his arm and it stayed there but it's hard to tell if this is because he can't really move his arms the way he wants) but he was absolutely mesmerised by the baby picture on the box. It was next to his changing mat and he couldn't take his eyes off it!
