Questions and Answers

1. What can I expect from the forum? Is it just a general place to chat and swap information?

Whatever you are experiencing as a parent or family member, rest assured, there are many people out there going through the same. The forum is a place for you to let off steam if your kids are driving you mad. It’s also where you can share your triumphs and your challenges, your advice and your queries. If you want to discuss the Supernanny TV show, this is the place. If you want to ask how to deal with tea time tantrums, maybe someone on the forum can offer good advice. The theme is parenting and families but, within that limitation, you can talk about whatever you like.

2. Is the forum moderated and are there rules?

Yes, the forum is moderated and inappropriate language or behaviour will result in banishment for the offender. The rules are outlined in the top thread of the forum.

3. What’s the difference between the forums and the chat room?

A forum is a message board; a message is ‘posted’ by a member of the Supernanny community (it could be you!) and replies appear beneath it. Responses to those replies will appear in the same ‘thread’ (a thread is a sequence of responses and replies which all grow out of the original message). A visitor to the forum can add to an existing thread, which is like joining an existing conversation, or can start a new one. All material posted stays visible.

A chat room occurs in real time. A person will type a message which will immediately appear on the computer screens of all the other people in the chat room. One, some or all of them will then type a response. Whatever they write will appear beneath the original message on everyone’s screens. A chat room session can be fast and often frantic. When it ends, the comments disappear and cannot be accessed again.
