Lisa Cooper
Two boys aged 3 and 6 years
Lisa was initially worried her boys would enjoy the Naughty Step, but they quickly realised it wasn’t a good place to be. “The threat of it is so great that the 3 year old hasn’t even been sent there yet!”
She says the portability of the step was the best feature. “My 3 year old always wanders off – but this way I keep him within sight, and there is no getting away from the naughty step! Previously I would just use a stair in the house, but this really hits a nerve with the kids. Kids understand it, and respond in the desired way."

Na'imah Gibbons
One boy aged 3
Na’imah was impressed with the step’s user-friendly design. “I found it very easy to set up, and I like the design very much - nice colours and good little reminders such as 'NO SHOUTING', 'NO HITTING' and 'NO SWEARING'.
“Having already 'kind of' established the naughty step routine, I simply switched from putting my child on the bottom step of stairs to the Supernanny Naughty Step. With the naughty step you can put it wherever you like, so you can keep an eye on your child - you can't always do this when they're on the stairs.”
She says the step lost one star for its size. “To be honest I feel it could be improved by making it slightly bigger or wider. I think that everything else is fine.”

Helen Keenan
Twin boys aged two and a half
Helen had already tried the Naughty Step Technique in her home, so was curious to try the Supernanny Naughty Step with her twin boys. She says, “The step was very easy to set up, and I like that it is designed for discipline – it has a sole purpose.”
She says it was easy to use, but lost points for its ‘fun factor’. “The design is a little to fun for a two year old. It should be plain and not so exciting.”

Kerry Milestone
One girl aged four
Kerry had never used timeout with her daughter, so it took a couple of tries to convey the concept. “At first my four year old thought it was a laugh and would shuffle it to one side so she could see the TV! We moved it so the step was facing an empty corner, and she immediately started to take it more seriously.”
It had the desired effect. “It helped me be consistent in discouraging two things by daughter had started doing recently - using a whiny voice and constantly poking her baby brother. It also stopped me getting cross when she did the same thing again and again - the consistent approach to her behaviour helped to keep me calm.”
