FFLAG is a voluntary organisation of parents who all have either lesbian daughters or gay sons (and sometimes both). These parents give their time to support other families who have lesbian or gay children they do this in a variety of ways:
- We have over 20 helplines across the UK
- We run 14 parents support groups around the country
- We provide information in the form of booklets
- We also campaign on issues of equality for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people
Helplines
All FFLAG contacts are themselves parents of lesbian, gay or bisexual children who have resolved their own and their families’ anxieties and have reached a point where they feel able to help others with similar concerns. They can answer questions, provide information and support to families and share their experiences of having an LGB child.
Support groups
FFLAG support groups provide an informal, friendly and safe space where parents and other family members can share their thoughts, fears and experiences. The meetings are completely confidential and there are no expectations on those that attend. You can come to as many or as few meetings as you like and say as much or as little as you need to. FFLAG volunteers can sometimes offer one-to-one meetings for parents who would prefer this type of support.
