A Mother's Day Wish List
We asked a group of Mums what they really want for Mother’s Day – with some surprising results! Kids and Dads take note – this Mother’s day, don’t get carried away with expensive gifts, our survey shows she’ll be far more impressed with a cup of tea, cake and a lazy lie in!
10. A walk in the countryside
A family walk in the country is an ideal Mother’s Day treat. We’re also requesting sunshine, a picnic lunch and someone to carry the three year old when he gets tired!
9. Home improvements
It might be as simple as a picture for that boring wall or a new set of crockery. One mum says, “I’d just like hubby to finish one of the jobs he’s started – I’m sick the hole in the kitchen wall and our paint-stripped bedroom!”
8. A good book
Romance, suspense or an engrossing biography are top of the list (along with some time to read it!).
7. Home-made dinner
It doesn’t need to be five star gourmet (although we appreciate that too) – we’d just like someone else to plan, shop, cook and clean up!
6. Sweets and chocolate
We’ve all got our favourites, and Mother’s Day is a great excuse to ditch the diet and indulge. One Mum was quite specific in her request, “I’d like a truckload of Woolworths Pick ‘n’ Mix, specifically Turkish Delight in the pink and white wrappers.”
5. A lottery win
Ok, this one’s a bit harder to arrange, but it is meant to be a wishlist, right?
4. Time to myself
One mum explains, “I’d love two child-free hours in which to have a bath, read a book, do some yoga, or just have a very long, uninterrupted, extremely hot cup of coffee.
There are some things you just can't do while breastfeeding a baby with one arm and reading a book to a wriggly toddler with the other.
3. Something homemade
The best gifts are always homemade - we love our children’s pasta necklaces, handprint pictures and leaf collages. One Mum is hoping for a homemade card this year, “And I'll know if she didn't do it herself - it's got to be incredibly busy, decorated in clashing pinks and reds, and liberally covered in stickers and glitter.”
2. Spa Treatment
A nice long facial, pedicure and massage is sure to please any Mum. We wouldn’t buy it for ourselves, but we’re secretly hoping someone else will!
1. The most popular wish: A lie in
We don't ask for much! The perfect Mother’s Day would be a long, uninterrupted sleep, followed by a hot cuppa and homemade breakfast in bed. Is that too much to hope for?
Happy Mother's Day to all our Supernanny Mums, we hope all your wishes come true!
