Ian

29 going on 59, with 2 boys aged 4 and 1, Ian rants vaguely in the direction of parenting issues and the joys of being the only man under 30 to drive a Vauxhall Astra. Technorati Profile

Some Mothers do 'ave em
28 February 2008 It's Mothers' day….Hurray! It used to be so simple. A quick home-made card resembling a Daffodil and a breakfast in bed made by snotty little hands and it was all sorted....
Ian has a tendency to let his focus drift...
12 February 2008 It’s been ages since my last blog. This is mainly due to nothing happening in my life that is really worthy of note. After the excitement of Christmas and the New Year January seems like one long dark Monday to me. No one wants to hear about colds, lack of money or being too busy with your kids to breathe...
IT'S CHRISTMAS!
21 December 2007

The kids were sliding around on the ice outside school this morning, having a great time. Then up came a fat, jolly man with a sack (stay with me this is all true)...

I want my "Mummy"
27 November 2007 Being a parent you probably know that there are plenty of things in the real world that fill you full of terror. As a child, I was very worried about monsters under the bed and skeletons behind the door (actually, up until about the age of 14, I checked behind the bathroom door out of habit as when I was younger I was convinced a skeleton was always lurking). Now of course I have real life terrors to deal with (not just my kids). Mortgage payments, parent evenings, David Cameron, etc, etc...
Summer Dreams
30 October 2007 I have just discovered that my younger son, like me, suffers from a common and apparently greatly debilitating condition. I, like a quarter of the population, have suffered unknowingly from this condition for my entire life and although my elder boy escaped its clutches, it seems my younger will be afflicted for the rest of his days. What terrible affliction am I referring to? It is of course the horror of having a summer Birthday!!!!!?????
Kryptonite
25 October 2007 Athletes train at altitude, so their bodies can get used to working on less oxygen, and therefore give them an advantage over their competitors, when they finally come back down to sea level. Soldiers go marching with rocks in their back packs, so that when they march with just their kit it seems easy. Parents do everything other adults need to do with the handicap of having to do it while looking after their children....
Block Party
3 October 2007 Apparently building blocks are being hailed as a simple and classic tool to aid your child’s development. I have to agree that simple wooden blocks play a large part of my children’s time. As the Supernanny team has pointed out there are many ways for you to interact with your child using blocks. One of the ideas is to sort all the different blocks by either shape or colour. I haven’t tried the colour idea with my kids yet but here is how my kids generally like to involve their Dad with the sorting of their toy blocks and how this has aided their development....
Bouncing baby boy
19 September 2007 My youngest is now one, and showing signs of walking. When I say 'Signs', I mean the kind of signs that consist of cuts and huge purple bruises all over his head...
Que Sera Sera
14 August 2007 I know I'm a "know it all". But it seems only one of my sons takes after me. Maybe I'm learning the truth about nature and nurture.....

22 July 2007 Ever had an out of body experience? Or do you ever feel detached from your life and are viewing events from a 3rd person perspective?
Something to deny?
19 June 2007

Did you name your kids after a famous footballer or your favourite auntie? Take the test to see what this says about your roots!

How grown up are you?
7 June 2007

How do you measure if you are grown up or not? Like all men, I have on many occasions been accused of being immature.
